A Mercedes-Benz G-Class arrived at DEIZ GARAGE for a planned performance upgrade in the form of Stage 1 ECU tuning. This AMG variant based on the W463 platform belongs to the luxury SUV segment, where any increase in output must begin with a solid technical foundation rather than software changes alone.
Before tuning was applied, the project began with a full diagnostic assessment and an initial reliability check. The inspection revealed hidden fault codes linked to improperly executed previous work, directly affecting operational stability and long-term durability. The main issues involved the cooling system and electrical components, including reduced cooling system efficiency, elevated intake air temperatures (IAT), and signs of heat soak under load. Further diagnostics confirmed the need for electrical wiring repair to restore correct system operation.
After all mechanical and electronic systems were returned to factory specification, a second reliability check confirmed stable operating conditions. Only then was the vehicle prepared for ECU tuning, where a precise custom remap and controlled software calibration were applied. The results were verified through live data logging and confirmed with dyno testing, ensuring consistent output and preserved engine reliability.
